Description
A blood choke using the legs to trap the opponent's head and one arm, creating a triangle shape that compresses the carotid arteries.
History
Derived from judo's sankaku-jime, the triangle became a signature technique in BJJ. It was relatively rare until the 1990s when competitors like Renzo Gracie and later Ryan Hall brought it to prominence.
Technique Notes
Trap opponent's head and one arm between legs. Lock ankle behind knee of opposite leg. Pull head down while squeezing knees together and lifting hips. Angle perpendicular to opponent for maximum pressure.
