Description
An ankle lock that hyperextends the ankle by trapping the foot and arching back while applying pressure to the Achilles tendon.
History
One of the few leg locks allowed at all belt levels in IBJJF. Dean Lister and Imanari developed high-level straight ankle systems before the heel hook revolution.
Technique Notes
Control opponent's ankle in figure-four grip with blade of wrist on Achilles. Pinch knees together, sit back, and arch hips into ankle while pulling arms to chest. Triangle legs for better control.
