Description
A front headlock choke that can be applied standing or from guard. The attacker wraps their arm around the opponent's neck and squeezes.
History
Named after the French execution device, the guillotine has been a staple of wrestling and catch wrestling for centuries. Marcelo Garcia modernized the high-elbow guillotine variation, making it devastatingly effective in no-gi competition.
Technique Notes
Wrap arm around opponent's neck with their chin in the crook of your elbow. For the high-elbow variation, drive elbow toward ceiling and hip inward. Can finish from closed guard, half guard, or standing. The arm-in guillotine adds extra pressure from the trapped shoulder.
