Description
A choke that uses the opponent's own shoulder to help compress their carotid artery, with the attacker's arms completing the triangle.
History
Known as kata-gatame in judo, the arm triangle is one of the fundamental pins and submissions. In modern grappling, it's often set up from mount or side control and is a high-percentage finish at all levels.
Technique Notes
Trap opponent's arm across their neck using your head. Wrap arms around head in a gable grip or RNC-style grip. Walk hips to trapped arm side and sprawl to finish. Keep shoulder pressure heavy.
